15 places to find the best copywriters for hire

best copywriters for hire

Great copy can be the difference between a 2% and a 12% conversion rate. The stakes are incredibly high, especially if you run an online business.

Although it’s not always easy to find a great copywriter who’s capable of achieving these results.

So in this post, I’ll review all the places you can find highly skilled copywriters for hire.

1. Luciano Viterale

luciano viterale copywriting services

Luciano is one of the few copywriters with real experience buying, building, and selling internet businesses. He’s been featured on high-profile sites like Zapier, Starter Story, Finder, and They Got Acquired. He specialized in helping eCommerce and SaaS companies attract and convert high-quality traffic. His core services are website copywriting, eCommerce copywriting, email copywriting, and SEO content writing. Some of his clients include Ticker Nerd, Wealthlab, and MyBond.

One key difference that separates Luciano from other copywriters is his research process. Whether it’s through customer interviews, user testing, or competitor research he’s able to extract key insights that form highly effective copy. If you’re interested in working with Luciano you can book a free audit here (it takes less than two minutes).

2. Copy Cat Copywriters

Copy Cat Copywriters

Copy Cat Copywriters is a boutique agency in California founded by Shawn Rolph. They’re a small team of less than 20 and have three core services. You can hire an in-house writing team, an individual in-house copywriter writer, or leverage their content engine.

One great thing about Copy Cat Copywriters is they service a variety of industries and have clients in different verticals. Some of these clients include ZebraCBD, Power Digital Marketing, and Bird Rock Systems. If you’re interested in working with the team you can reach out via their contact form and receive a complimentary piece of content.

3. Contra

contra

Contra is a new independent commission-free platform for freelancers. They pride themselves on having “everything you need to launch, build, and grow your Independent career”. As you can imagine, this attracts great talent. Companies such as Figma, Copy.ai, and Alamanac have leveraged Contra for blog writers.

Contra is rated 4.9/5 with over 5,000 upvotes on Product Hunt. If this wasn’t enough, Contra won two Golden Kitty awards. This is somewhat unheard of when it comes to Product Hunt and is a testament to how great the platform really is.

4. Brooks Lockett

brooks lockett

Brooks Lockett is one of the best B2B & SaaS copywriters in the field. He has a deep understanding of these business models and knows exactly how to extract the most value from your readers. Brooks mostly works with venture-backed and profitable bootstrapped businesses. His clients include Ironclad, SendX, and Simplecrew.

If you’re a profitable venture-backed or bootstrapped business then working with Brooks could be a great investment. You can reach out to Brooks via his contact form, however, he only works on new client projects that start at $10,000.

5. Jacob McMillen

jacob mcmillen copywriting

Jacob McMillen is a popular copywriter who also runs a successful freelance copywriting course. He’s taught hundreds of other freelancers how to write highly effective copy. Jacob has been featured in Hubspot, ConversionXL, and Consulting.com. Whilst he doesn’t specialize in one particular industry or service he is very capable of website copywriting.

Jacobs’s capacity for new copywriting clients is limited, however, if you’re particularly interested in working with him you can request work via his contact form.

6. Kat Ambrose

Kat ambrose

Kat Ambrose is a data-focused B2B copywriter. She specializes in website copywriting and content writing for B2B businesses. Kat focuses on increasing conversions and revenue for your business. Some of the clients Kat has worked with are also impressive, they include Stripe, Shopify, and Loom.

If you’re looking for a data-orientated copywriter then I suggest contacting Kat. I will note that Kat doesn’t take on clients with a budget <$1,000.

7. Lewis Commercial Writing

Lewis Commercial Writing is a husband-and-wife boutique agency. Both Alexander and Sarabeth specialize in a particular aspect of copywriting. Between them, they offer SaaS copywriting, UX copywriting, and SEO content. They focus mostly on SaaS and B2B e-commerce brands. Some of their clients include AppSumo, Dashthis, and Deskera.

If you’re interested in working with them you can book a 30-minute call. Remember that you’ll need to be prepared with your requirements before you schedule the meeting.

8. Susan Greene

susan greene copywriter

Susan Greene is a professional copywriter who has been in the field for 25 years. She offers over 15 different copywriting services including website copywriting. Susans copywriting portfolio is huge. It’s so big it even has filters so you can navigate between the types of copywriting projects she’s delivered.

If you’re looking for a well-rounded copywriter with loads of experience then I highly suggest reaching out to Susan Greene for a quote.

9. Writer Access

writer access

Writer Access is a tool that connects businesses with high-quality writers. It also handles the whole content creation process. Whether you’re an agency or a small business you can benefit from their services. The good news is that you can also get access to 200 high-quality copywriters.

I’ve personally used Writer Access and the quality of work I’ve received has been great. I recommend this for anyone who requires a lot of copy or prefers to use a larger company. You can sign up for a trial or reach out to one of the reps for a demo.

10. WebFX

webfx copywriting services

WebFx is a Meta and Google-certified agency that offers six core copywriting service plans. They mostly specialize in SEO copywriting, eCommerce copywriting, content refresh, and long-form copywriting. Unlike most other copywriting agencies they operate on a “per page” pricing model. The price per page varies depending on the additional features you require.

If you have clear requirements and prefer to work with a large media agency then WebFX is for you. You can simply choose the service that suits you, submit a brief, and pay for the work.

11. Copify

copify

Copify is another larger agency, however, they purely focus on copywriting and content writing. They’re based in London and have been around since 2009. Copify has a large pool of writers they leverage to get your project delivered, in most cases, under 48 hours. Their clients include eBay, Amazon, and Lyca Mobile.

If you’re looking for a capable agency that can turn around your project in less than 48 hours I suggest reaching out to the team at Copify.

12. Copywriter Collective

Copywriter collective

Copywriter Collective is a boutique copywriting agency that has access to some of the world’s best freelance copywriters. They’ve been around since 2002! As you can imagine, their pool of copywriters is extensive and diverse.

You’ll find copywriters from all over the world, fluent in many languages and specialists in different niches. If require a copywriter with experience writing in other languages then I recommend reaching out to the team at Copywriter Collective.

13. Daniel Doan

Daniel Doan Copywriter

Daniel Doan is a neuro-response copywriter with over a decade of experience. He offers a range of services including landing pages, cold emails, welcome emails, ads, and blog writing. Some of his current and previous clients are seriously impressive. They include Motley Fool, Shopify, Uber, Intel, and Playboy.

His spots are limited so if you’re interested in working with Daniel you’ll need to book a discovery call first.

14. Upwork

upwork

Upwork is a very popular marketplace for freelance talent. You can find someone to help you with anything, pretty much instantly. However, this comes with its own challenges. Since there are so many copywriters on the platform it requires more effort to ensure you hire the right person. Upwork is a great place to find value-for-money writers if you produce a high-quality brief and vet your writers properly.

I haven’t found great copywriters on Upwork, however, I have worked with great designers. Everyone will have a different experience so it’s best to try the service before you dismiss it.

15. Fiverr

fiverr copywriters for hire

Fiverr is very similar to Upwork. However, its main value prop is slightly different because the sellers set their “gigs” and prices. Whereas on Upwork you submit a gig first. This is great if you’re looking for something very quick, although if you have custom requirements and need someone more experienced to spend the time working through it with you I wouldn’t suggest Fiverr.

According to Fiverr, there are 7654 copywriting-related gigs to choose from. This proves there is definitely talent on the platform, however, you might run into a decision dilemma when trying to differentiate between everyone.

Final thoughts

You should be able to find an amazing copywriter through one of the services mentioned above. Keep in mind, it’s still important to vet copywriters and request samples of previous work.

You might also notice that some of the copywriters mentioned above can be found on more than one platform. For instance, I have my own personal website but I’ve still leveraged Contra and Upwork for gigs in the past.
